Perhaps (Persuasion Part A)

Words and Music Copyright 1983 Robert Edgar

Perhaps some one might see, imagine

A rectangle next to my head, in rectangle

Can be seen the texture

Of velvet raindrops on

A puddle reflections on a puddle

Amphibians laying eggs,

Forgotten seeds,

Into a murky well.

Cooler down below

Moist algae a way from the light

Thick growths living independent

Of the surface, sun warm,

Puddles where tadpoles are developing lungs

Temporarily both fish and reptile

For moments maybe only hours

Breathing both water and air

Moist oxygen warmed by light and

Both different and the same

Same,

Same.
