Artists on the Net

Still from "Artist On The Net"

Still from "Artists on the Net"

Where the artist appears
You can see the net.
The artist is an illuminating fountain.
And what he illuminates
Is the medium.
The granularity of meaning
Is the syntax of the medium.

Art-Tel

Art-Tel, published in Art Papers, is an edited selection of the communications generated by Robert Adrien’s “Planetary Network” artwork with it’s head end at the Venice Biennale, and a node in Atlanta, GA. That Atlanta node was Edgar’s Apple //e, with a 75kb/sec modem. The text was received so slowly one could read the lines as they scrolled by.
